Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

Do you have a special Valentine!  I have my husband and my 2 sweet kids.  I love making them a Valentine breakfast with a little something for them when they wake up.

We have a little tradition of making cookies with my kids.  Although most of the time I never make sugar cookies cause of the time it takes to make them.   But I love making this Sour Cream Sugar Cookie recipe I got my mom.   The flavors are amazing and they are so soft.

With today being Valentines I like making these kind of cookies cause my kids love to make them…okay let me rephrase my kids love to eat the frosting and enjoy the sprinkles.

I love how these Sour Cream Sugar Cookies are full flavor.  The best part is the cream cheese frosting…oh man I could eat it by the spoon full.

 I love how you don’t have to chill this dough and they are ready to roll out right away. So it doesn’t seem like you are making them all day long.  My kids favorite part is getting into my container of cookie cutters.  When my grandparents passed away I was able to get all of her cookie cutters.   Its nice knowing my kids are using the same cookie cutters that I used when I was little.

Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

Super soft and full of flavor with amazing cream cheese frosting
Serves: 3 dozen
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 4.5 cups flour
  • Frosting
  • 1 8oz cream cheese
  • 1 cube butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • food coloring, optional
  1. Cream butter and sugar together until creamy. Add sour cream, egg and vanilla. Mix well add in flour, baking soda and salt. Roll out dough on floured surfaced till desired thickness and cut out with cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-7 minutes.

  3. Cream together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla.
Cookies freeze well if needed
