Garlic mashed potatoes

This year for Thanksgiving im in charge of bring mash potatoes.  Which is actually quite easy if you ask me.  The hard part is that I have to make mash potatoes for at least 75 people.  That’s a lot of potatoes to make my friends.   So this past month I have been trying different kind of potatoes.  There are a lot of different varieties out there and it’s amazing how many different ways to make them.  Some make them with milk, heavy cream, cream cheese, sour cream and yogurt.  The list could go on and on.

So now im wondering how do you guys make your mashed potatoes?

I don’t think garlic mash potatoes will be the winner for Thanksgiving because they have so much flavor they don’t need gravy.  But these are good to have with any other meal for the week and we love garlic in our house.

Garlic mashed potatoes
Prep time
Cook time
Total time
  • 7-8 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2-3 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 3 oz cream cheese
  • 3-4 Tbsp milk
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  1. In a big pot start boiling water. Peel and dice potatoes and add to boiling water. Boil for 40 minutes or until tender with fork. Strain water from potatoes. In a big bowl add the potatoes and all the ingredients. Blend together with mixer or with potato masher.
  2. I always add a little extra butter on top.

  16. I’m reorganizing my Pinterest boards…deleting an old board with tons of recipes that I pinned their from when I was running a link party. I’m finding that almost none of the recipes are ones that I would actually want to try. This one is an exception and is getting moved to my new Recipe Box – Side Dishes board.

I’ve tried to make mashed potatoes before and have never been successful enough to be willing to serve it to other people. This recipe might change that.

    Thanks for sharing!
