Garlic Cheese Breadsticks

I don’t know about the rest of you but I love my bread!!  It doesn’t matter if it’s a slice of bread, a roll, a biscuit, french bread but my all time favorite bread would have to be Garlic Cheese Breadsticks.   When ever we order pizza I have to get cheese bread!  Even though I should skip the calories, I just can’t do it!  Well to be completely honest I rather skip the pizza and just have the cheesy bread.   There is just something about the soft dough covered in garlic butter and smothered in cheese.   Maybe even dipping in some marinara sauce or even better ranch dressing.

The other night I wanted needed to make these Garlic Cheese Breadsticks!!   If I remember right I don’t even think I made anything to go with them.  I just wanted the breadstick.    I’m pretty sure my husband thought I was crazy but whatever…..they were good!

The best thing about this recipe is they are so easy to make and you can have fresh, hot and cheesy breadsticks within 45 minutes!!

Slice them up the minute they come out of the oven and serve with your favorite dipping sauces.   If you happen to have leftovers.  Store in your fridge.   Simply pop them into the microwave for 15 seconds and you have hot and cheesy breadsticks once again.

Garlic Cheese Breadsticks

Prep time
Cook time
Total time

Ingredients
  • 1½ cups warm water
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp yeast
  • 3½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
Toppings
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 Tbsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl add warm water, yeast and sugar together. Stir then let sit for 5 minutes until yeast is foamy. Next add in flour and salt and with dough hook, knead for 3-5 minutes until dough forms a smooth ball. Make sure dough is bouncy and not sticky, if sticky add a little bit of flour at a time until bouncy. Let rest for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. If using a pizza stone, place in oven while preheating and dough is resting.
  3. When dough is ready knead out to desired thickness. I rolled mine out on parchment paper, for easy transfer onto pizza stone. Melt butter and add seasoning until combined. Spread on dough and cover in mozzarella cheese and bake for 20 minutes. Slice and serve immediately!
  4. This recipe makes alot so I usually halve the recipe and freeze part of it.

  11. looks great! i’ve never made dough before but can you tell me why the ingrediants include sugar?

    • From what I have heard the sugar helps the yeast go active….but i really don’t know the correct answer. You could probably go without the sugar just make sure your yeast is fresh and the watr is warm, let sit 5-10 minutes until nice and foamy on top.

      • From a former baker- Yeast feeds on sugar. You’re right. It helps the yeast to “work” more quickly. You can go without, it just takes longer and the yeast isn’t as happy. I always add sugar to my bread starters even if the recipe doesn’t call for it. It really doesn’t take much sugar to make the yeast happy. :)

  12. I could eat the entire batch! Thanks for linking up with What’s Cookin’ Wednesday!

  14. We made these tonight and it was way too much garlic salt for us! I think maybe 2 teaspoons would have been enough. Tossing the rest.
