Im one of the biggest carb lovers out there! I love my pasta, grains and especially I love bread!
Plus to top it off, I love me a good artisan bread! I can eat the entire to loaf to myself…actually I think I did!
I know some people are scared to actually make bread…I was one of them. But I love this recipe because it so beyond easy to make. It definately is a different recipe with not letting the yeast and water grow together but somehow it works and makes a lovely slice of bread.
Ain’t she pretty…I still can’t believe that I made it!

- 3 cups unbleached all purpose flour
- 1¾ tsp salt
- ½ tsp yeast
- 1½ cups water
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt and yeast. Add water and mix. Cover bowl with saran wrap and set aside for 12-18 hours. Overnight works best. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. When oven is done preheating place your cast iron pot in the oven with lid and let it heat up for 30 minutes. While your pot is getting heated up, dump dough on parchment paper that is heavily floured and shape into a ball. Cover with your dough with the already used saran wrap until your pot is done preheating. Carefully remove pot from oven. Grab the corners of your paper and carefully place inside your pot trying not to burn yourself. Cover with lid and and bake for 30 minutes, when your 30 minutes is up remove lid and bake an additional 15 minutes. Remove bread and let cool.
At the time I did not have a cast iron pot, so I used the pot from my crockpot. But don't use your lid...it can't take the heat. Cover with tinfoil instead.
If you are looking for a cast iron pot. Sams Club as a 6 qt for 39.99...that's the cheapest I have ever been able to find especially for that size. Plus they have some fun colors.
This bread looks great – can’t wait to try it! Thanks!
That bread looks really good, and not to mention, fairly easy!
Found you on the Monday link up. Have a great week!

This is so awesome. I am adding it to my “breads to try” recipe box. I was disappointed when I saw that it needed to be done in a cast iron pot, so I really apreciate the note about being able to use the crock of a crock pot with aluminum foil. Thanks for sharing on Sweet and Savoury Sunday #33

This sounds so yummy! Glad that you said we could use a crock pot instead of the cast iron since I don’t have one! Thanks!

My dad makes a bread almost exactly like this, and he loves it so much he bought me a dutch oven specifically so I could make it too. And yeah, I mostly eat it myself 😉

Im so glad you enjoyed it!!
This bread is very easy to put together and tastes delicious. I was skeptical that it would turn out okay because the dough was extremely sticky. I wasn’t able to form it into a ball; rather, the dough took the shape of my slow cooker pot. Also, the dough stuck terribly to my floured parchment paper so I transferred it to a piece that was coated with cooking spray instead. I resisted the urge to add more flour, and I’m glad I did. The bread cooked up just fine, and my family loves it. Thanks so much!
Oh yay! Im so glad it turned out great and the family loved. I love hearing success stories…makes my day!
