I am always trying to find some new ways to keep the two year old busy. With having a new baby in house it has been hard for him to not have all my attention like it used to be. Plus with it to cold outside to play I need to get creative inside to keep those cute little hands out of trouble. We still play with our DIY colored rice quite often but I thought I should mix it up now and make some DIY Colored Noodles.
I had a few boxes of noodles in my food storage room that were expired and they were those 3 minute cooking noodles. Which I didn’t like so without having to waste them I decided to make a learning tool and another way for us to have some fun.
Right now I have been trying yo teach him his colors and counting. Why not have a fun way to incorporate learning and have some fun all at the same time! Along with the many colors I choose noodles with different sizes. Making it a little more fun, Plus its what I had in hand.
These DIY Colored Noodles were so easy to make. Less then ten minutes. Plus the little one had fun shacking the bags. I love the pretty rainbow look, its a shame it won’t stay like this!
- 3 cups noodles, uncooked
- 2 tsp rubbing alcohol
- ½ tsp food coloring, or more depending on how bright you want your color to be
- ziploc bag
- cookie sheet
- In a small mixing bowl combine rubbing alcohol and food coloring and stir. In a Ziploc bag add noodles. Pour mixture on top, and shake bag until well coated. Lay out on cookie sheet for about an hour or until dried.
