Crockpot Cashew Chicken

Here is another great recipe to add to my list of crock-pot recipes!

We love Chinese food in this house!!   I would eat it all the time if I could but my husband is so picky we can only go to 1 restaurant that he has been going to since he was a little boy. The same restaurant was actually our first date back when we were dating in high school.  But sadly its half way across the valley or we would probably go at least once a month.

So instead I have to get creative in the kitchen and try to make my own Chinese dishes.   I’m not complaining though because this recipe was so simple and easy to make and it actually tasted great.   The best part it’s made in the crock-pot which means less dishes to wash and you don’t have to spend a whole lot of time in the kitchen preparing dinner!

DIY Colored Rice

I love sensory bins!!!   Now that my little boy is a lot more curious and wanting to explore new things I have decided I wanted  to make him some sensory bins for him play in, learn and discover new things.    (Watch for a future post on my sensory bin that I made!)

I saw some cute ideas on Pinterest on how to start sensory bins.   Well I found one that  had colored rice and I new right away that I wanted to make some colored rice.  Even though my son is 17 months old  and he doesn’t know his colors but I still thought it was a fun way to bring some color into his bins.

Colored rice is simple to make and you probably have everything in your in home.

Not only will your kids have fun playing around in the pretty rice but I did to!  It was fun to swirl around, run through my fingers and simply just playing around.

Caramel Sauce Recipe

I love this time of year!   I love the crispness in the air, the slighly chilly mornings which reminds me that Fall is right around the corner.

This time of year all I want to do is eat and bake and then eat some more.   It’s also the perfect time for apples, and when I think of apples I like to think of a caramel apple.    Well lately I have been craving a good caramel apple.  Of course I don’t really know where to get a good caramel apple here in the city with out paying an arm and leg for it.  So most of the time I just get those yummy Kraft caramel squares and melt them and endulge in the yumminess.  Well not this time, this time around I decided to bust out my family recipe for caramel dipping sauce.

This sauce is my favorite and I don’t know why I haven’t made it until now.   I may or may not have been caught eating this with a spoon :)

Garlic mashed potatoes

This year for Thanksgiving im in charge of bring mash potatoes.  Which is actually quite easy if you ask me.  The hard part is that I have to make mash potatoes for at least 75 people.  That’s a lot of potatoes to make my friends.   So this past month I have been trying different kind of potatoes.  There are a lot of different varieties out there and it’s amazing how many different ways to make them.  Some make them with milk, heavy cream, cream cheese, sour cream and yogurt.  The list could go on and on.

So now im wondering how do you guys make your mashed potatoes?

I don’t think garlic mash potatoes will be the winner for Thanksgiving because they have so much flavor they don’t need gravy.  But these are good to have with any other meal for the week and we love garlic in our house.
